SPPC finalizes bidders for its 3.7 GW Saudi PV projects

The Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) announced the shortlisted bidders for the fifth round of solar projects under the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), overseen by the Ministry of Energy. The projects, totaling 3.7 GW, include the Al-Sadawi (2 GW), Al-Masa’a (1 GW), Al-Henakiyah2 (400 MW), and Rabigh2 (300 MW) projects. The total investment is expected to exceed SAR8 billion (~$2.13 billion). Bidders like Masdar, EDF Renouvelables, SPIC Huanghe Hydropower Development, and others have been shortlisted. The projects will operate under a 25-year Build, Own, and Operate (BOO) model, with each project company entering into a power purchase agreement with SPPC. SPPC had awarded over 19 GW of capacity under NREP to date.
