Spain’s Gamesa Electric has supplied 12 Proteus PCS-E units for the North Star Junction Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project, a 50 MW/250 MWh installation located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The project, in collaboration with Fortescue, aims to support the company’s goal of achieving Real Zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions across its iron ore operations by 2030. The Proteus PCS-E units will be deployed in a plug-and-play configuration across six PCS stations, each equipped with transformers and MV equipment. The Proteus PCS-E inverter, part of Gamesa Electric’s award-winning Proteus family, is known for its efficiency, power density, and reliability, contributing to a low Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE), says Gamesa.
