Mon Power and Potomac Edison, both subsidiaries of US-based FirstEnergy Corp., have completed their second utility-scale solar project in Rivesville, West Virginia. Covering 27 acres, this facility can produce up to 5.5 MW of solar power using approximately 14,000 panels. According to FirstEnergy, this project is part of a larger initiative involving five solar installations, totaling 50 MW of renewable energy. Construction on the third site, in Berkeley County, is scheduled for later this year. The projects will generate over 87,000 Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs), allowing customers to purchase credits supporting renewable efforts. FirstEnergy claims this program is available for both residential and commercial customers. Mon Power serves 395,000 West Virginia customers, while Potomac Edison serves 440,000 across Maryland and West Virginia.
