China-based Trina Solar ISBU has signed a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with EGO, an Italian energy management company owned by the Shell Group. This agreement involves 9 solar projects located in various regions across Italy, with a total capacity of 69 MW. The projects are either under construction or set to begin in 2024 and 2025. Collectively, these installations are projected to generate 119 GWh of electricity annually, meeting the power demands of 7,000 average-sized households. During the construction and operational phases, it is anticipated that these projects will create approximately 1,000 jobs, spread across 9 different regions. Trina Solar ISBU claims that this initiative will make a significant contribution to Italy’s renewable energy target to achieve 65% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030.
