Siripuram village in Telangana has been chosen as a solar model under a special project aimed at promoting clean energy. Surveys have been conducted for most of the village’s 1039 domestic and 520 agricultural consumers to understand their needs for solar power. 50% of agricultural consumers have been surveyed, with the rest expected to be covered within three days. The project is being implemented at no cost to the consumers, allowing them to sell surplus electricity to DISCOM for additional income. To support households without adequate rooftops, TGREDCO is exploring high-rise solar panel structures for 201 homes. Farmers are also being encouraged to collectively install solar panels in shared fields.
