A Hartford Superior Court judge imposed a $5 million judgment on Vision Solar following a lawsuit by Connecticut’s Attorney General, accusing the company of high-pressure sales tactics, misleading consumers, and unpermitted work. According to the lawsuit, Vision pressured customers into unaffordable loans for solar systems that were often left unconnected due to a lack of permits. Although Vision filed for bankruptcy and lacks the assets to pay the judgment, the ruling establishes new regulations for solar companies in Connecticut. These include accurate disclosures, licensed contractors, and bans on signing contracts during the first visit. The company must also provide clear estimates for power generation and future savings. Consumers affected may receive up to $25,000 from Connecticut’s Home Improvement Guaranty Fund.
