Tigo Energy, a prominent solar and energy storage solutions provider, has secured a favorable ruling from the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in a patent infringement case against SMA Solar Technology America. The USPTO rejected SMA Solar’s attempts to invalidate Tigo’s US Patents 9,966,848 and 10,333,405, which are central to an ongoing intellectual property dispute in the District of Delaware. Tigo alleges that SMA Solar infringed on its innovations related to module-level power electronics, specifically in compliance with rapid shutdown requirements outlined in the National Electric Code. The recent decision follows the USPTO’s 2023 ruling against a related Tigo patent, US Patent No. 9,584,021.
