UGE International, based in New York, has reached the 'Notice to Proceed' phase for its 1.5 MW community solar project in Maine. This achievement confirms that financing, permits, and interconnection agreements have been finalized. The project is UGE's first to qualify for the Domestic Content Adder, an Investment Tax Credit under the Inflation Reduction Act that supports the use of US-manufactured components. Solar modules with US-made cells will be supplied by Heliene, a North American manufacturer. The project construction will begin shortly, on a former farmland. The project on completion is anticipated to supply electricity to over 350 homes annually and reduce approximately 2,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions. Upon completion, the Newport project will be part of UGE’s 24 MW portfolio.
