Trinasolar US, a leader in smart solar solutions, announced that the US International Trade Commission (ITC) has initiated an investigation into alleged patent infringements by Runergy and Adani entities. The ITC action stems from Trinasolar’s September 30, 2024 complaint, claiming violations of Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930. The investigation focuses on whether Runergy and Adani have infringed Trina’s TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) solar cell technology patents. Trinasolar seeks a Limited Exclusion Order to block imports and Cease and Desist Orders to halt sales and marketing of infringing products in the US. According to Trinasolar, the patents cover solar cells, modules, panels, and components. Separate lawsuits by Trinasolar regarding TOPCon technology are also pending against Runergy in Delaware and California.
