New Zealand’s largest solar farm operational

Trina Solar and Lodestone Energy have completed the 33 MW Kohirā solar farm, New Zealand’s largest solar farm to date. The farm, spanning 64 hectares in Kaitāia, features 61,000 Trina Solar Vertex 550W bifacial dual glass panels on TrinaTracker Vanguard 2P smart tracking systems. It is anticipated to produce approximately 55 GWh annually, sufficient to power over 7,770 households. The integration of Trina Solar’s high-power bifacial modules with Vanguard 2P trackers, alongside optimized tracking algorithms, ensures maximal energy output. The design also facilitates agrivoltaic farming, vital for land-scarce markets like New Zealand.
