France-based TotalEnergies and Aljomaih Energy signed a 25-year PPA with the Saudi Power Procurement Company for Rabigh 2. The 300 MW solar project aligned with Saudi Vision 2030 and was planned to connect to the grid by 2026. As part of Saudi Arabia’s National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), the project supported Vision 2030 goals to achieve a 50% energy mix of renewables and gas. The solar plant was to be developed, owned, and operated by the consortium, with grid connection targeted for 2026. TotalEnergies also expanded its renewable portfolio globally, aiming for 35 GW by 2025 and 100 TWh of net electricity by 2030.
