Under the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) plans to construct 2.5 GW hybrid hydro floating solar (HHFS) project in Malaysia. It has initiated a 30 MW project at the Chenderoh Hydro-reservoir, after which it plans to extend this initiative to the Temenggor and Kenyir Hydro-reservoirs. The project is motivated by its previous Stesen Janakuasa Sultan Azlan Shah (SJSAS) project. Since 2019, the floating solar project at SJSAS has generated a 600 MWh of energy. Using 288 solar panels with 105.12 kW capacity, this initiative has reduced 390 tons of CO2 emissions in just 4 years.
