United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), headquartered in Europe, has recently issued a tender for the development of a 10 MW hybrid solar minigrid on Papua New Guinea. The project is funded by the Australian and New Zealand governments, in partnership with PNG Power Limited and the Bougainville government. The development will be carried out in three phases with Phase-1 including the installation of a 2 MW PV system and 8 MWh of storage. Phase-2 expands the system to 6 MW PV and 12 MWh of storage, and Phase-3 includes upgrades and extensions to the existing grid infrastructure, ultimately reaching a 10 MW PV system and 20 MWh BESS. The qualified contractor will be responsible for site preparation, construction, installation, commissioning, and system integration. Bidders must submit their proposals by March 24, 2025.
