Somalia government invites bids for 55 MW solar plant in Mogadishu

The Federal Government of Somalia received financing from the World Bank for the ASCENT project. The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources invited bids for the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a 55 MW (AC) solar PV power plant. The project included a 160MWh battery storage system in Mogadishu. Bidding followed international rules with two-envelope submission. Deadline: April 14, 2025. A virtual pre-bid conference was scheduled for March 13, 2025. No site visits were organized by the employer. Bidders were encouraged to visit BECO-Mogadishu headquarters for site inspections. The project had a delivery period of 15 to 18 months from the effective date. All bids had to include a Bid-Securing Declaration.
