Italy’s Ministry of Environment and Energy Security has extended the construction deadline for 1.5 GW of agrivoltaics projects awarded in the country’s first tender. The earlier deadline was June 30, 2025, but it is now set for June 30, 2026. Developers must connect projects to the grid within 18 months after construction ends. A decree confirming these changes was issued on June 24, 2025, following developer concerns over delays. Italy’s energy agency, GSE, awarded 1.5 GW after reviewing 643 bids, with total bids reaching 1.7 GW. European Energy secured 270 MW, Solarig 122 MW, and DCH Di Carlo Holding over 140 MW. Next Energy Capital received 73 MW in Campania, while Repower and Photosol also won capacities. Most projects integrate solar power with farming activities.
