Bahrain’s Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) has announced a tender for the country’s first solar power plant. The 150 MW project is located near Bilaj Al Jazayer, will be developed with support from the private sector. EWA president Kamal Ahmed said that the project aims to diversify Bahrain’s energy mix. The plant is expected to provide electricity to about 6,300 homes and cut over 1 lac tons of carbon emissions every year. The tender marks a key move to expand renewable energy and reduce reliance on conventional power. It also aims to make the government’s plan to add more clean energy to the national grid through private partnerships.
