Thailand's Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), the state-owned power utility, has announced bidding for the 50 MW (AC) Vajiralongkorn Dam Floating Solar Project in Kanchanaburi. Bidding documents were available from May 15 to June 20, 2025. The project aimed to install floating solar panels on the reservoir to supply electricity alongside existing hydropower infrastructure. It formed part of Thailand's Power Development Plan 2018-2037 Revision 1 and the draft PDP, targeting 2,725 MW of floating solar by 2030. The project was expected to start commercial operations in 2027. The opening of sealed bids was scheduled for September 16, 2025. The estimated project cost was THB 1,223,525,686.16 (~%37.34 million) inclusive of VAT and other charges.
