Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has announced bid for Phase VII of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. The project will add 1.6 to 2 GW (AC) of solar power and a 1 GW battery storage system, capable of storing energy for six hours. Commissioning is set to begin in August 2027. The seventh phase also includes a 1,000 MW BESS to enhance renewable energy use and ensure a stable power supply. The project total capacity is expected to reach 5,000 MW. The winning developer or consortium will share project ownership, with power sold to Dubai’s utility under a long-term PPA. The deadline for expressions of interest (EOIs) is set for March 21.
