The EU PVSEC conference has recently taken place in Spain, drawing over 1,600 attendees, making it the world's largest single PV event. SolarPower Europe, a solar trade organization based in Brussels that organized the conference, said that the conference showed Europe's leadership in developing PV technology. The debates were focused on local module production, scaling up multi-gigawatt manufacturing, and building supply chain resilience throughout Europe. Walburga Hemetsberger, CEO of SolarPower Europe, received the Becquerel Prize for contributions to the EU Solar Strategy, REPowerEU, and the European Solar Charter. She also participated in sessions addressing inclusive leadership and module production expansion. Catarina Augusto, Head of System Integration, moderated sessions on grid integration and the EU Grid and Flexibility Package. Anett Ludwig, Head of Supply Chains, presented research on reshoring solar manufacturing, focusing on cost gaps and financing models. Raffaele Rossi and Thomas Garabetian discussed PV market challenges, product circularity, and EU-funded projects. Earlier this year, SolarPower Europe reported Fraunhofer ISE analysis showing EU solar reshoring was 14.5% costlier.
