Zelestra, a Europe-based clean energy supplier, has recently started building a 6.5 MW DC solar plant in Ginosa, Italy. The project is expected to produce 11.7 GWh annually and offset about 3,700 metric tons of CO₂ emissions each year. According to Zelestra, the project is part of a 10-year PPA with BKW Energy, which includes a future 9.5 MW DC plant in Bellomo, Sicily. Altenia, part of the Terna Energy Solutions Group, has been appointed as the EPC contractor for the project. As per Zelestra, construction has created approximately 50 local jobs in the Taranto province. The Ginosa plant is scheduled to begin operations by February 2026. Zelestra has said it is developing 30 projects totaling over 500 MW in Italy and plans to triple this capacity within the next two years.
