United Solar Polysilicon leads Oman’s 2 GW grid-linked projects rollout

The 15 private-sector projects were scheduled to add 2 GW to Oman’s grid by 2027, including USP, JA Solar, and Green Data City in key industrial zones.

Oman plans to connect 15 major private-sector industrial and commercial projects to its national electricity grid by 2027, adding nearly 2 GW of demand. According to the Oman Electricity Transmission Company, the projects span sectors such as polysilicon manufacturing, data centers, oil and gas, cement, and water desalination. Key additions include United Solar Polysilicon’s 800 MW plant in Sohar Freezone, two 200 MW data hubs including Green Data City, and several facilities by JA Solar, Occidental of Oman, Sanvera Carbon, and others, with grid connections scheduled in phases from 2024 to 2027.
