Headquartered in Japan, Toyota Boshoku America has commissioned a 5.7 MW solar project at its manufacturing facility in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Developed in partnership with Onyx Renewables, Sol Systems, and Nelnet Renewable Energy, the ground-mounted array will supply 85% of the plant’s electricity needs and generate over 9.5 million kWh in its first year. Delivered through a power purchase agreement with no upfront cost to TBA, the project also includes workforce training, prevailing wage labor, and pollinator-friendly landscaping. It received federal support as an energy community and marks TBA’s largest on-site solar installation to date.
