TotalEnergies, with Basra Oil Company and QatarEnergy, has advanced Iraq’s Gas Growth Integrated Project (GGIP) by moving all segments into execution, including the 1 GW AC solar facility launched earlier this year. Together, these initiatives form a multi-energy program aimed at reducing flaring, diversifying Iraq’s power mix, and strengthening electricity supply. The solar component is expected to contribute to meeting national demand while supporting the grid with clean generation capacity. At peak construction, around 7,000 Iraqi workers will be engaged across the program, highlighting the scale of domestic participation in implementing one of Iraq’s largest integrated energy developments. The solar facility, designed to provide low-emission electricity, is being developed in parallel with a 300 million cubic feet per day gas treatment project, the Ratawi oil field expansion, and the Common Seawater Supply Project.
