Singapore-headquartered TotalEnergies ENEOS, in partnership with SteelAsia,a global steel firm has installed a 1.9 MW solar rooftop photovoltaic system in Meycauayan, Bulacan. It has over 3,200 solar panels and produces 2,700 MWh of electricity yearly. This cuts SteelAsia’s carbon emissions by 2,300 tons, like planting 34,500 trees. Under a 10-year agreement, TotalEnergies ENEOS funded, installed, and runs the system. SteelAsia uses electricity without any upfront costs. This project helps SteelAsia use more renewable energy. Some of its other plants, like the Calaca green steel facility and the Compostela, Cebu rolling mill, already run on geothermal power.
