Michigan-based property development company,Thrive Collaborative and sonnen,Germany-based global company has launched Veridian at the County Farm in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The portfolio includes a 170-home master planned community designed as a carbon-neutral, all-electric neighborhood. Built on 14 acres, the project integrates geothermal systems, electric heat pumps, rooftop solar totaling over 1.3 MW, and sonnen’s virtual power plant (VPP) battery storage in every home. The community operates as a grid-interactive energy ecosystem with rapid dispatch response, capable of reducing peak demand, stabilizing the grid, and avoiding an estimated 24,750 tons of COâ‚‚e over 30 years. Veridian represents one of the first clustered VPP-enabled housing developments in Michigan, developed in collaboration with local utilities and the City of Ann Arbor to maximize energy and community benefits.
