The Government of Telangana, through TGREDCO, has launched the PM-KUSUM (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan) scheme to expand solar energy use in the agricultural sector. The program will support the installation of 4 GW of decentralized ground-mounted solar plants, sized between 500 kW and 2 MW, on barren and agricultural lands near 33/11 KV substations. It invites applications from farmers, cooperatives, FPOs, SHGs, and developers to help increase farmer incomes, reduce diesel dependence, and lower environmental impact, with DISCOMs purchasing the power at fixed tariffs under a 25-year agreement.
