India-based Tata Power has recently signed a MoU with the Assam Government, India, to develop around 5 GW of clean energy projects covering solar, wind, hydro, and storage. The investment will sum up to INR 30,000 crore (~$3.44 billion) over the coming five years. The Assam Government will provide 20,000 acres of land and assist with infrastructure for transmission connectivity. The collaboration includes financial incentives, single-window clearances, and skill development programs to train the workforce for renewable energy projects. Tata Power will also partner with Assam Power Distribution Company Limited to install rooftop solar projects, also creating 3,000 direct jobs. Assam aims to reach 500 MW of solar capacity by 2027, leveraging its 14,487 MW renewable energy potential.
