Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power headquartered in Mumbai, has signed a INR 1,200 crore (~ $145 million) power purchase agreement with Tata Power Mumbai Distribution to establish an 80 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) projectAccording to Tata Power, the initiative is designed to provide scheduled renewable power with a four-hour peak supply window, ensuring 90 percent availability during peak demand periods. The facility is expected to generate about 315 million units of electricity annually and will contribute toward compliance with Renewable Purchase Obligations set by the state regulator. Once commissioned, the electricity will be supplied to Tata Power’s distribution network in Mumbai, serving residential, commercial, and industrial customers. TPREL’s overall renewable capacity currently totals 11.3 GW, including operational and under-development projects. The facility, which will integrate solar, wind, and battery storage systems, is planned to be executed within 24 months.
