TAQA Energy Services, based in Abu Dhabi, has completed the final phase of a 9 MW solar PV project at UAE University in Al Ain. According to TAQA, the project began in 2020 with energy retrofits that achieved a 27% reduction in electricity use, followed by campus-wide efficiency upgrades. The third phase involved installing 14,400 solar panels over 84,000 square meters, which now generate 18.7 million kWh annually. UAE University confirmed that this meets nearly 30% of its electricity needs and reduces over 8,000 tons of CO₂ emissions each year. The project, managed entirely by TAQA, is the largest solar installation in the UAE education sector. UAE University, which has more than 17,500 students, has integrated the project into academic activities to support energy awareness.
