SolarBank Corporation, headquartered in New York, is developing two community solar projects in Skaneateles, New York, with a combined capacity of 14.4 MW DC. The projects are being built on industrial brownfield sites and have received positive interconnection results from a Coordinated Electric System Interconnection Review (CESIR). Next steps include finalizing permitting and securing financing before construction begins. The projects may qualify for NYSERDA’s NY-Sun Program incentives and will allow homeowners and renters to subscribe and receive bill credits based on their share of generated power. Risks related to permit approvals, solar contracts, financing availability, and policy changes affecting feasibility are feasible. Recently, SolarBank and Qcells have partnered on 25.77 MW PV projects in New York.
