China- based Sineng Electric helped connect a 1 GW solar farm to a gas-fired power station in Qinghai, China. The project, covering 16.78 square kilometers in the Gobi Desert, brought an inactive gas plant back into operation after more than ten years. The site gets over 3,500 hours of sunlight each year. Sineng’s 3.3 MW MV turnkey solution helped manage tough environmental conditions like high altitude, strong winds, sand, and extreme temperatures. The inverters ensured efficient energy conversion and reliable performance. This was the first large-scale hybrid project combining gas and solar power on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It showed how solar and gas power can work together to improve grid stability and reduce carbon emissions.
