Pakistan province, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced to distribute 500,000 additional PV systems for low-income households under the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP). The first phase included 200,000 units of which 50,000 had already been delivered and the rest set for distribution soon. On the directive of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, the additional systems will be provided later this year. In Punjab, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has introduced a PKR 10 billion (~ $36 million) solar panel scheme to supply 100,000 homes with free solar panels. Both provincial programs are designed to expand renewable energy adoption in Pakistan, offering long-term electricity cost relief for low-income households and improve energy access for economically disadvantaged communities.
