India-headquartered Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has signed a MoU with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RVUNL). The MoU includes plans to set up 1.5 GW of solar power and a 1.6 GW thermal plant in Rajasthan. This joint venture includes the Telangana and Rajasthan governments. It is SCCL’s first partnership with a power company from another state. SCCL holds a 74% stake, while RVUNL holds 24%. SCCL already operates a 1.2 GW thermal plant and 245.5 MW of solar capacity. It is planning to expand solar capacity to 450 MW by 2026. RVUNL will select the sites. SCCL will manage construction and operations.
