Scatec ASA has signed a 15-year Contract-for-Difference (CfD) with Opcom, Romania’s electricity market operator, for 70% of the production from a 190 MW solar portfolio, with the remainder sold on the wholesale market. The agreement, part of Romania’s first CfD auction funded by the EU Modernisation Fund, supports 1.5 GW of solar and wind projects, with an additional 3.5 GW expected to be awarded in 2025. Located in Dolj and Olt counties, the EUR 140 million project will be developed with Defic Globe, which holds a 35% stake. Scatec will handle Operations & Maintenance, Asset Management, and key component procurement, while Defic Globe will manage turnkey EPC. Construction is set to begin in late 2025, furthering Romania’s energy transition goals.
