Norway-based renewable energy company Scatec ASA has recently announced the commercial operation of 60 MW phase-1 of Botswana’s 120 MW Mmadinare Solar Cluster. According to Scatec, this project is its first in Botswana and operates under a 25-year PPA with Botswana Power Corporation. The phase-2 is still under construction and is expected to be completed by early 2026. The company said that it currently owns 100% of the project but plans to bring in equity partners to reduce its long-term stake. With the first phase completed within budget, the company has shifted its focus to accelerating construction on the second phase to ensure timely completion.
