Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), headquartered in Mumbai has planned to start solar power generation on the 701-kilometre Hindu HridaysamratBalasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg connecting Nagpur and Mumbai. MSRDC commissioned projects at Karanja Lad in Washim district and the Mehkar interchange in Buldhana district with a combined capacity of 9 MW. Of this capacity, 3 MW at Karanja Lad and 2 MW at Mehkar were already operational and generating electricity. The power is being supplied to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) under a 2022 agreement through Mahasamruddhi Renewable Energy Ltd, a special purpose vehicle of MSRDC, at a tariff of INR 3.05 (~ $0.037) per unit. MSRDC has further planned 204 MW of solar capacity to be installed at additional interchanges along the Samruddhi corridor
