The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has issued a letter of intent to RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group. The LoI for an INR 3,000 crore (~ $360 million) solar ecosystem hub in Sector 8D, featuring a 3 GW solar cell plant and a 60 MW captive solar plus storage facility on 100 acres. The project will deploy advanced TOPCon and perovskite-tandem cells, expected to lower power costs by 10–15% and reduce India’s dependence on imported modules, while creating over 5,000 jobs. This follows earlier YEIDA approvals to SAEL Solar for an INR 8,200 crore (~ $985 million) integrated 5 GW cell and 5 GW module plant and to IB Solar for an INR 3,000 crore (~ $360 million) 4 GW cell unit, positioning Sector 8 as a growing solar manufacturing hub in Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, YEIDA has cleared Minda Corporation’s INR 500 crore (~ $60 million) wiring harness unit in Sector 10, projected to support EV and automotive growth with 7,200 direct and indirect jobs.
