ReNew commissions 1.3 GW solar plant in Rajasthan

ReNew, a renewable energy company headquartered in Gurugram, has inaugurated a 1.3 GW solar project in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. According to ReNew, the project spans 3,500 acres across Pokran and Bhaniyana tehsils. The plant is expected to generate 2,490 million units annually and supply electricity to around 500,000 households. ReNew said that the project will offset nearly 2.3 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year, based on a 936g/kWh benchmark. As per ReNew, all solar panels used were domestically manufactured, with 90% produced at its Jaipur facility. The project was inaugurated in the presence of the Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy and the Chief Minister of Rajasthan.
