Recurrent Energy, an Austin-based subsidiary of Canadian Solar, has announced the operation of its first Louisiana project, Bayou Galion Solar. The 127 MW DC project was completed in Morehouse Parish and became operational in November 2024. According to Recurrent Energy, the plant supplies electricity for approximately 20,500 homes annually. The $160 million facility was financed by MUFG and was constructed by Primoris Renewables with involvement from local vendors. As per state data, Louisiana’s total solar investment surpassed $2 billion by the end of 2024. Recurrent Energy has also supported local culture through contributions to the Cotton Country Players and Rose Theatre. Officials from Morehouse Parish said the project has helped expand the local tax base, diversify energy sources, and create jobs.
