Quilemba Solar begins 35 MW plant construction in Angola

A 35 MW PV plant near Lubango has entered construction by Quilemba Solar, a joint venture of TotalEnergies, Sonangol, and Maurel & Prom, with a 45 MW expansion planned.

Quilemba Solar Lda, a joint venture between TotalEnergies, Sonangol, and Maurel & Prom, has started construction of a 35 MW solar power plant near Lubango, Angola. A second phase is planned to expand the project by an additional 45 MW, bringing total capacity to 80 MW. The asset will be operational in the H1 2026, and will become the largest privately-owned PV facility in Angola. The project is expected to supply electricity to around 40,000 households. The groundbreaking ceremony was held recently, in Lubango, attended by government officials, diplomatic representatives, and all three project partners.
