Q ENERGY, a Germany-based renewable energy developer, and Velto Renewables, a Spain-based clean energy investor, have commissioned the 9 MW La Gineste solar park in Aude, France. The project was inaugurated recently, while the development was initiated in 2011 but was delayed due to multiple issues. Construction was resumed after a revised tariff was awarded in 2024. The facility has been equipped with over 15,200 modules to generate electricity for 5,500 people annually. Velto Renewables has confirmed that the site, which was unused for 65 years, is now used for sheep grazing to manage vegetation. The project has also included biodiversity corridors, native hedges, and public information panels, aligning with Q ENERGY’s avoid-reduce-compensate strategy and Velto Renewables’ European project portfolio expansion.
