Perch Energy, headquartered in Massachusetts, has announced that 31 Wendy’s and McDonald’s locations in northern Illinois, have subscribed to community solar farms in Rockford and Pontiac. The franchises’ locations, owned by Mike Allegro of All Star Management, are projected to save over $20,000 annually for 20 years, totaling $1 million in electricity cost savings. Initial subscriptions have already secured $500,000 in savings from nearly 8 MW of clean energy generation. The solar farms offset 13,437 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually. Facilitated by Solar on Earth, a community solar customer acquisition organization, the partnership aligns with Illinois Shines, a state renewable energy incentive program, supporting ComEd’s renewable energy goals.
