Florida-based OUC commissioned the Harmony II and Storey Bend Solar Energy Centers in Osceola County, Florida, adding 149 MW of solar capacity across two 600+ acre sites. This raised OUC’s total solar capacity to 271.5 MW, supplying electricity to around 50,000 homes. AdventHealth and Comcast NBCUniversal subscribed to major portions of the output through OUC’s SunChoice community solar program. AdventHealth will offset 50% of its energy use within OUC’s service area, while Comcast NBCUniversal will offset 45% of operational energy at Universal Orlando Resort. The SunChoice program allocates solar output to customers without requiring onsite installation. The project marked an increase in utility-scale solar capacity tied to offsite subscription agreements with commercial consumers.
