US-based Origis Energy and Pioneer Community Energy signed a 20-year agreement for the Chalan Solar + Storage project in Lost Hills, Kern County, California. The facility has 65 MW AC solar system and a 25 MW (100 MWh) battery energy storage system. Origis Energy will handle development, construction, and operation, with commercial operation planned for 2026. Pioneer Community Energy, based in Rocklin, California, stated the agreement supports its planned expansion into 13 additional service territories by meeting anticipated load growth. The project has been structured to provide long-term electricity supply under a fixed arrangement. Origis Energy confirmed it will oversee all phases from development to operations. No details on permitting or site preparation timelines were disclosed. The agreement marks a key step toward executing scheduled energy capacity plans for both parties.
