Canberra-based Blind Creek Solar Farm and Battery project, developed by Octopus Australia, has received Generator Performance Standards (GPS) approval. This enables the project to proceed to its final development phase before construction begins in Q3 2025. Located 32 km north-east of Canberra, the project comprises a 300 MW solar farm and 243 MW/486 MWh of co-located battery storage, using DC-coupled hybrid technology to optimise energy dispatch. The GPS approval process took 12 months and involved coordination with AEMO, Transgrid, and Lumea, as well as technical input from Wärtsilä and SMA Australia. Grid modelling was handled internally. With a value exceeding $850 million, Blind Creek is the largest hybrid project to reach this stage in the National Electricity Market.
