The Nigerian Rural Electrification Agency (REA), a government institution headquartered in Abuja has signed an agreement with Nigeria Infrastructure Corporation (InfraCorp), an Abuja-based public investment management company, and Solarge BV, a Netherlands-headquartered solar technology manufacturer, to build a 1 GW PV module factory. The three parties have established Solarge Nigeria Limited, with equity shares of 25% for REA, 26% for InfraCorp, and 49% for Solarge BV, under a public-private partnership framework. According to REA, the factory is aligned with the National Public Sector Solarization Initiative and the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund, ensuring synergy with national energy strategies. InfraCorp has been tasked to mobilize investments, while Solarge BV has committed to provide technical expertise and standards. REA has also signed a binding off-take agreement to procure 200 MW annually for five years, guaranteeing supply for electrification projects.
