NHPC Limited, headquartered in Haryana, has approved the development of a 1,200 MW solar park in Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh. The project will be implemented by Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited, a joint venture between NHPC and the Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Agency, under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s Mode 8-UMREPP scheme. The total estimated project cost is ₹796.96 crore (~ $96 million), with NHPC committing ₹239.09 crore (~ $29 million) in equity. The Board has also approved issuing bonds of up to ₹2,000 crore (~ $241 million) through private placement to meet funding requirements for the 2025–26 financial year.
