US-based NextEra Energy Resources and DEMCO (Dixie Electric Membership Corporation) have launched the 100 MW Amite Solar Energy Center in CSPScity, Tangipahoa Parish.This marks the NextEra’s first utility-scale solar facility in Louisiana. The project became operational in March 2025 and is expected to supply fixed-price electricity to thousands of homes and businesses for the next 25 years. Construction spanned 15 months, created 200 local jobs, and is projected to generate $16 million in tax revenue for the parish over 30 years. The center is owned and operated by a NextEra subsidiary, contributing to local economic development and grid reliability.
