Nama Power and Water Procurement, a Muscat-based utility managing electricity and water procurement in Oman, has recently signed a power purchase agreement with Masdar, OQ Alternative Energy, Al Khadra Partners, and Korea Midland Power for the Ibri III Solar Independent Power Project. The agreement involves developing a 500 MW solar photovoltaic plant integrated with a 100 megawatt-hour battery energy storage system. According to Nama Power and Water Procurement, the consortium is responsible for design, financing, construction, ownership, and operation of the facility. The facility has been planned to contribute significantly toward Oman’s Vision 2040 goal of producing 30 percent of electricity from renewable sources by 2030. Prior to this, Masdar has presented scalable solar-plus-storage solutions at RE+ 2025 in the United States, which demonstrated the company’s growing role in advancing integrated clean energy technologies. The Ibri III project is expected to add 4 percent renewable electricity to Oman’s overall generation mix.
