Maharashtra has installed 1,359 MW of solar power generation projects under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krishi Vahini Yojana 2.0, providing daytime electricity supply for 2.14 lakh farmers. The scheme, launched recently, aims to develop 16,000 MW of decentralized solar capacity by September 2026. Work is underway to allocate 40,000 acres of land, issue tenders, and strengthen the electricity grid to support agricultural feeders. Private sector participation is estimated at ₹65,000 crore (≈ $7.8 billion), with expectations of creating 70,000 rural jobs. Electricity generated will be supplied to Mahavitaran at an average cost of INR 3 (≈ $0.036) per kWh, aiming to reduce government subsidy burdens and industrial cross-subsidies. A single-window portal has been launched to address administrative and technical challenges. The initiative has been recognized nationally, with around 20 awards granted for its planning and implementation across various districts.
